The Hydrometallurgy Group in the department of Materials Engineering focuses on hydrometallurgical extraction of various metals. We are especially interested in developing novel hydrometallurgy processes and applications.
The aqueous processing of ores, mineral concentrates, and waste materials that involves extraction/recovery of metals is termed as hydrometallurgy. The core concepts of mineralogy, solution chemistry and electrochemistry are applied to optimize and design processes for efficient extraction and recovery of valuable metals.
