Biography

Roozbeh started his Ph.D. program at the Department of Materials Engineering at UBC in
September 2022. He works under the supervision of Prof. Edouard Asselin and Prof. David G.
Dixon on the effect of organic surface-active reagents on the leaching and electrochemical
behavior of chalcopyrite in ferric sulfate solutions. In his second year of Ph.D., Roozbeh was
admitted in candidacy and also received the Four-Years Fellowship (4YF), the most prestigious
doctoral award from the University of British Columbia.
Prior to his Ph.D. studies, Roozbeh did his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in mineral processing engineering at
the University of Tehran, Iran, and graduated in 2022. Roozbeh has broad experience in various
topics such as (bio)hydrometallurgy, electrochemistry, froth flotation, and life cycle assessment.
His previous research is mainly focused on developing green routes for processing and
recycling critical materials from primary and secondary resources. Roozbeh has worked
extensively on e-waste recycling using environmentally friendly approaches and rare earth
elements extraction from natural ores.
